What’s biting in Folly Beach? From shore, dock or pier only and where’s the best place and what bait do we use? Surf fishing has not been successful this week so we need a new spot or something different.

Thanks!

Hey ac3boyz,
The location guru for the lowcountry is Gordon. Gordon told me recently that the pier at the "Folly Beach Park" has been good! The park is of the left just across the bridge. I understand that large whitings were hitting a couple weeks ago. I will be trying that spot soon! Crabs have also been plentiful from the same spot. I assume that other fish can be caught there because the river feeds into the ocean so whatever swims in the ocean should be there also. If you want to catch whitings and other fish, fish on the bottom with shrimp and cut bait. If you can catch a mullet, cut it into chunks for the reds n trout! You might also try the pier at the boat landing at the foot of Sol Leagre rd. fish out into the river or toward the grass on incoming tide. Good Luck! Keep thos lines tight n post pictures of your catch.

Hey ac3boyz,
I don't know where you're fishing in the folly surf but, I heard the area near the rocks at the lighthouse is a good spot fishing from the rocks. Also fish on the sides of the Folly Pier toward the pilings..cut crab n mullet ought to bring home the bigger fish! You might get lucky and snag a pompano or two! Tight lines buddy!

If you go onto Folly Beach, turn left onto the last street which is E. Ashley and drive to the end of the street. Park and walk to the rocks. Be sure when you park your vehicle, that your tires are off the road completely or you will be ticketed!!! You will see the Morris Island lighthouse. Fishing near the rocks will yield good catches. Folly Beach Pier next the Tides Hotel is still being repaired and scheduled to open spring 2023 Good Luck! Keep those lines tight!
