Replacing treble with single weedless?

Can I replace standard treble hooks on rapalas and similar lures and spinners like mepps with weedless single hooks of the proper size? Is this a stupid idea?

I'm just guessing here, but I would think that the weedless hook would put the lure out of balance and change the action of said lure potentially unfavorably.... But then again who knows for sure..,. All u can do is try

It's not a problem, and preferable on spinners and spoons. Would not suggest doing it to all hooks on Rapala style baits.
Many years ago, I had good success replacing only the rear hook on some Rapala, crankbait, spook, and popper style baits, with wider gap light wire single hooks. I almost always tied a small tuft of white, red, or other colored feathers, maribou, or real polar bear hair to the hook.

Just as long as the longer hooks do not catch up on lure and mess up action! They make short style replacements just for lures so they do not hang up on each other.
