We were invited over to a friend's house and fished off his deck. He was able to land a nice salmon. The fillets were shared. I will smoke, and grill mine. We didn't have a scale to weigh the fish but it was a heavy male.

Good morning, Bob. A 36" salmon is a very nice salmon. He has good color for this time of the year.

Nice. Once again I say I should move to the Midwest from the Pacific Northwest to catch some Pacific salmon.

There is a difference in taste although it is subtle. We don't have halibut but we don't have sharks or seals to eat what we are catching. The waves on the lakes are at different intervals causing even seasoned boaters to get seasick. I believe it gets colder here also. All things to consider before a move. Come visit and try fishing the Great Lakes.

Yes. I can't believe how lucky I am to be able to fish there. I call it Shangri la. Being on a deck 10-12 feet above the water, wait for a hit, and head down the stairs to the water while fighting a fish is awesome. Being able to bleed it out with a hose and filleting it within minutes of catching. And back to fishing. Very nice.

I have heard, Bob, that the different wave action that is in Lake Mich., is the reason they built the submarine plant in Manitowac, your neighbor to the NE. The wave action is supposed to be similar to the wave action in the ocean. Couldn't prove it by me, that both look the same.
