Parents at little league games.
Just passing on one from Kerry, many of us have been through this with our own kids.
An assistant coach for a freshman girls (13 -14 yr. old) softball team said similar comments were heard. In fact, one time the umpire was going to forfeit the game to the opposition if we didn't get our parents / grandparents to clean up their act. Here is his story........
At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 9-year-old baseball players aside and asked, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?"
"Yes, coach", replied the little boy. "
Do you understand that what matters is whether we win or lose together as a team?"
The little boy nodded in the affirmative.
"So," the coach continued, "I'm sure you know, when an out is called, you shouldn't argue, curse the umpire, or call him an as*****. Do you understand all that?"
Again, the little boy nodded in the affirmative.
The coach continued, "And when I take you out of the game so that another boy gets a chance to play, it's not a dumb-ass decision or that the coach is a s***head is it?"
"No, coach."
"Good", said the coach. "Now go over there and explain all that to your grandmother.”

So so true Plum I coached Little League for years with my boys.
Had some great times and two Bad teams (rember the bad news Bears 🐻 )
But I was lucky I had good parents coached and Managed.!!
And 4yrs on the board but my last year I was done.!!
After 11yrs. Loved coaching the Senior league Division.
I even got kicked out of a game and I definitely deserved it 🙃 and he was my insurance man.
And to boot my Grandfather and Grandmother were at the game to see their great grandson play !!
My Grandfather laught his a$$ off, it was a senior league game.
Loved the kids loved teaching the game but played to win. If we lost we lost but paid to win.
Loved the topic (old memories)
Thanks

Good one plumbob, I was lucky there was no one to say anything when I played.

I coached a little girls softball team about 30 yrs ago. The parents started getting out of control during one game. I called time out and talked to them. I asked them if they would like to have other parents act that way? They settled down and both teams parents applauded and continued to watch without being rude.

Oh so True Plum. Way too many coaches also should have been barred from the field. I see the effect the brats from MLB have on little leaguers. Putting on their little shows n some acting like spoiled brats. Seems to get a little worse each yr.

I agree with you Grizzly.
My last year coaching I saw this coming! And that was 35yrs ago.
And you can blame the parents back then , and the reason why I say that is the parents want to give the kids every thing !!
I coached old school , you earned your position. !!
I was on the board for 3years and coached and was a Manager .
And look what we have now !!
I'm not saying all but a good percentage.
Hope all is good for you and your family 👪
Have a good week

All the parents that never offer to help with anything. Some parents encouraged their kids some did nothing but criticized their kids then the ones that told their kids it was everyone else's fault. We're doing ok Andy. Since Bug had the nerve burn procedure on her back she's been doing pretty good. Hope all is well for y'all. Have a nice evening stay safe 👍
