Just a few minutes ago I was washing dishes and paused just in time to be looking out the window and saw a hawk come down about 6 feet from the house and grab a dove and land on the neighbors roof where he proceeded to have lunch. Nature is cruel but life goes on, it was fascinating to see 👀 that happen. Just wanted to share, not enough time for any pics, darn it

Nature is not a Walt Disney movie for sure. Have a couple sets of fawns here and two are all ready gone. Also have some little turkeys chicks and everyday one is AWOL. I am glad we are up the food chain a ways.

Had a similar a few years back. A red tailed hawk zipped around the house and snatched a squirrel right off my bird feeder. Kinda redefined the term. A week later a sharpshin hawk did a dove same way.

Yeah last summer I saw a hawk grab a squirrel from a tree

few months back saw a stand off. one squirrel in a lone tree, one hawk at the top, one on the ground, one on a nearby lamp post. watched for 1/2 an hour, nobody moved. guessing the squirrel had no chance.

Saw a hawk dive past the front window to the front lawn. Next day we found the remains of a rabbit. It's interesting but brutal. Ever been in bed at night and hear screeching outside? Happened last week but didn't find any remains.

Screeching at night woke me up once in the middle of winter. Turned out to be young fixes playing in the yard.

They learn real fast to watch the bird feeder. I just throw feed on the ground for my birds and every so often I see a hawk come driving in.

We were camping a few years ago when what we assume was an owl hauling a terrified rabbit passed just over our tents in the middle of the night. That continuous blood-curdling shriek right above is not how you want to be jarred out of a peaceful slumber. Pretty funny the next morning when half a dozen of us thought it was the most horrific thing we had ever heard, while one had slept through the entire episode.

That's cool and I've watched a Hawk snatch a rabbit, fly to top of a pole and do lunch they're amazing birds!

You can send that hawk my way please. Too many squirrels, doves and now neighbor has pigeons roosting under her roof. There is no such thing as one pair of pigeons. Watched a squirrel try to claw its way into my neighbors sunporch yesterday, first through the screen window then the bottom of the door.
See hawks occasionally and live one block down from Eagle Rock Reservation. Been here 20 years, have yet to see an eagle. Would love to.
