I haven't seen hardly any action up in the mangroves. Even night fishing with all the right conditions except for maybe the warter being to hot...can somebody confirm or tell me I don't know what I'm doing
Thank you
Derek

The bay temp is around 87 now......early morning before daylight is probably best. I'd start fishing lighted docks

A few of us up here are having the same results derek, water is in the mid 80's and like sinker says, docks with lights on have been my go to in the very early morning.
Then the fishing just seems to drop off like somebody put up a no fishing sign.
I am in holiday and the fish are out deep in cooler water..will be better in oct.
By the way come and fish anclote when it cools up..great fishing..

Tampa Bay was DEVOSTATED by the Piney Point discharge of 100's of millions of contaminated water. The RED TIDE has been very active in the Gulf there OVER 71 thousand tons of DEAD sea life have been collected. It will be years before TAMPA BAY will be what it was 2 years ago---SORRY

Even without that discharge bay fishing wasn't all that great anyway, almost all of the huge seagrass beds are gone now
Anclote all the way to hudson has been real good for trout and reds. When i fish tampa bay all i get is jacks and pin fish.

No doubt the fishing is better up that way, all the way to the big bend area. I'm thrilled that dot decided not to build a major highway thru there....that would have started a slow death to habitat there
The water is very warm right now and too many morning storms..but last month i was getting over 10 nice size trout a day is less then three hours..the water is also very clean up here. Tons of grass flats. The anclote key is also very good as well as around howard island.
Great area.........I'd like to see the state pass legislation to permantely protect and block development along that shoreline
Its been quite slow lately in the Crystal River area. Have tried everything I can think of with only little success. Two fish for three trips and neither of them keepers anyway. Water should cool down in a couple weeks, that won't turn the tide but it should help a lot. PS--its the moon that turns the tide.
They keep turning down any new development that i know of. I grew up in st. Pete fished skyway area and gandy weeden and boca mostly but left for 34 years. Just moved back to holiday last oct. and just really love my local waters. I still fish johns pass and jungle prada area once in a while but not much fish to speak of. The trout bite in anclote is very good and will only get better soon.

From St. Pete too, Johns Pass, Skyway and the flats around it, and Jungle Prada were my favorite spots, Prada more when I was a kid, I could ride my bike there. Been in Pasco for 40 years. I have fished from Anclote to Bayport this month with very little luck, are you fishing from a boat? I am going to start wading this week, Anclote Park used to be good for that.
