As I grow older the pains I feel affect my fishing and the techniques I use. Ice found I can't cast deep diving crank baits and flip all day long anymore. Too many broke bones through the years and too many surgeries. Bilateral knee replacement. Bilateral knee revisions. Bilateral fractured femurs, broken bones in hands arms and feet. Arthritis both shoulders.
My solution is Tylenol, aspirin, aspercream, absorbing horse liniment, arthritis medication, cool ties in the summer, lighter rods and reels outfits. Fitzgerald rods and composite reels. Fishing trips are shorter. More comfortable seats in the boat.
Any more helpful hints on making fishing more comfortable would be of help.getting old isn't for wimps.

you've got it right. can't fight it just have to roll with it. long gone are the days I use to rock hop along the river bank while chasing after a steelhead, or stay out all day from dawn to dust. I just figure when fishing becomes more of a chore than fun then it is time to do something else until then I'll just be a fair weather fisherman taking shorter trips closer to home. while some will say fight growing old they will soon find it is a losing battle

Easy solution.....move to my area and fish the south skyway pier. You can drive out on it, put your most comfy chair along the rail and fish your azz off.. ..... ..you're 15' away from your vehicle. I love it

No question, it is a losing battle, but fight it as long as you can. Miller Lite helps.

If you don't embrace growin old then all you got left is whining and complaining.
I would bet that MOST of us on this site have aches and pains EVERYDAY of our lives.
I've got too many pains to keep up with all of them.
I'm virtually deaf
I've got a bad back
very bad right knee and right big toe
left knee isn't great either
something catches in my neck.
then for some reason after makin 300 to 500 casts on any given fishin day my shoulders sometimes get sore.
Think I'll just stop there and have another beer. I still have the strength to lift a beer after a days fishin like today. What more can I ask for?

Not much on apple jack. It only muddles the mind and does little to fight father time. 4000 to 6000 casts per day with deep diving crank baits make my shoulders ache for days. Ledge fishing in the summer time. It's so hot I look down at my shoes and see the fruit of loom label has wound up there after melting off of my bvds

For me it's 211 steel reserve. 8.1 percent. Takes fewer for the desired a/effect so less to pack.

That's roughly 500 cast +/- an hour for 10 to 11 hours. That equals 12 +/- cast a MINUTE. Not sure I could even do that for 1 hour.

another result of aging is your memory fades and your stories get longer and exaggerated that might be why older fishermen catch more and bigger fish
