Real slow morning but I avoided the stinker. Had a bunch of motor trouble though. An hour into the trip,my trolling battery quit then had trouble keeping the outboard running.

Even catching doesn't take away the ouch from motor not working pain. Good going with some catches.

Sorry to hear that Terry. Maybe a fuel problem with the Merc? You got out and beat the skunk anyway. The 2nd one looks nice. Good luck troubleshooting the outboard. Give me a shout if you need anything.

I’ll do that Fred. Definitely a fuel problem. I’m thinking maybe a diaphragm on the pump the way it was acting

Do you have non ethanol over there? The corn liquor plays havoc on all the rubber parts.

We do Fred and I need to use it in that motor. I didn’t even think about it when you guys were here and ran over to the station here and added gas the one day. That’s probably where the problem started

We don't have non ethanol available in hardly any places around here. I just use the crap gas and put Startron in every time I gas up. It's been holding up for years so far but I'm starting to notice some weepage around all the seals. I'll probably have to rebuild the whole fuel system this winter.

Yeah,it’s pricey but worth it to save all the trouble. The place I retired from actually has it

Is there a Merc dealer or mechanic nearby?

There’s one in Williamsport but I’ll probably have to send for one. They don’t want to deal with those old motors, they just want to sell you a new one

Yeah, my local guy doesn't stock too many old parts. He does work on old motors though. His dad was into Mercury Racing motors back in the '70s. He built a bunch of the old inline 6 motors. Little Donny grew up with grease under his nails.

Nothing wrong with that. They aren’t hard to put in. Only takes about 15 minutes or so and they aren’t real expensive. I’ll have to get on line and get it ordered

Sounds like a plan to me. Two stroke carbs are pretty simple. Good luck my friend. If you need anything, let me know.

Slim the not so much fun part about boating n fishing😵‍💫. Remember when everyone says well you have a trolling motor. I had 2 days when neither worked properly. One required a tow to the ramp. Then we get those perfect days that make it all worth it 😁. Good luck brother 👍
