Leaving tomorrow for a three day vacation in Galveston. Gonna do some wade fishing in the surf and maybe the bay. Not gonna get anywhere near San Luis Pass. Stay tuned.

Willie22: scope out Boliver Pocket! There is usually a lot of slot sized trout in there. You can wade out probably 1/2 to 3/4 mile in water no deeper than your waist. It should not be too uncomfortable.

Strong strong currents at San Luis. Can be VERY dangerous. Read from time to time about people swept out and drowned. If you do fish there, try to stay on the banks or be in a boat. The sharks have plenty to eat in the bay. No sence if feeding them any more. Wear at least some type of floatation device and a plan to get back out of the water.
Other than that, hope you have some great fishing. I know with my brain type, have and would fish there.

Glad you asked. San Louis Pass is looks deceptively smooth, but has many serious undertow currents. People are drowned there almost every year. If you choose to fish there it is best to be in a boat! If you wear some flotation you can be washed out into the Gulf. Then, only if there are boats in the area to come and rescue you would you be able to survive.
In short, San Louis Pass does not take many prisoners! You are risking your life to wade out in very deep water there. You have been warned! Just Sayin...RJS

Staying in Holiday Inn Seaside Resort way out on the west end. Went to the surf on 11 mile road where there is supposed to be plentiful shell. Well…none. Bummer. Make a new plan Stan.
