Hey. Anybody out there have any experience with the shimano dc reels? Was thinking about buying one just for fun, probably the SLX dc model , but think I will hold off until I can possibly get an opinion about them from somebody here at the stage...My 2cents...

I own one. Bought it about a year and a half ago. I've been using spinning equipment all my life (I'm 74), I'm trout guy. It's worth every dime. It'll throw a 1/4 oz kastmaster about a half of a mile. Go and get you one. You won't regret it.

Chuck - I have both the SLX and Curado models. They cast like a dream but don't be lulled into thinking they'll never backlash. They still do but not as frequently as a non-DC baitcaster. You still need to feather the spool. One distinct advantage of the DC reels over non is that you don't really need to jack up the brake setting for skipping under docks and overhangs! Still feather the spool though!

One downside is when I switch rods with a different presentation that has a non-DC reel on the same outing, I have to make that mental switch in casting technique, kinda like switching from woods to irons on a long par 5.

What? I tried that game about 40 years ago. My loft got in way and I gave it up.
