I would appreciate tips, advice, etc. for fishing Lake George. I will be fishing from the shore, more than likely, since I can't haul a boat and camper at the same time.
There are a couple of marinas where you could rent a boat near Bolton Landing. I've done that. I don't know of any public access places to fish. You could also try your luck on Schroon River where there is plenty of public access points.
Been fishing there for 50+ years
If you can’t get in a boat best to use minnows or crayfish live bait Or throw top water rapplas (spell) good luck and it’s a Great Lake
Over there years, I've caught a lot of fish from the shore using night crawlers, also Berkley 1 inch emerald shiners.
A wonderful lake.
Bolton Landing and Hague both have fishing piers to help from shore. Smallmouth bass are the primary game in the summertime in big numbers. Night crawlers work well. Lake trout and landlocked salmon are caught on boats with downriggers on Mooselook wobblers but the peak time for their activity is May/June. Please send us a report with pictures when you return. Good luck.
