I'm from Bloomington , Indiana and there are a lot of lakes around me but not much I see in good fishing. Tried Lake Lemon , terrible. Tried a few private ponds and had good luck. I want to give Lake Monroe a try and wondered if anybody local has tried it. Thanks , good luck. Hope they love your bait/lures!!!

Fish Monroe several times a year. Mostly tournaments. With a 70 boat tournament it will usually take 23 lbs or so to win. You didn't say if you had a boat or not and what you were fishing for. If Bass fishing (what I do) you are going to need a boat to have much of a chance. Then you need to decide fast side (main lake) or slow side. If your bank fishing I see a lot of people under the 446 bridge at the causeway. Looks like most are either cat fishing or bream. Not sure how well they do, but there all the time. There is also a fishing dock east of Cutright ramp. Just follow the road around and there is a parking lot. It is by the marina.

Thank you. I'm a shore fisher here but twice a year fish the Gulf in Fla from a boat. Love bass fishing but just as happy to catch channel cat or any good fighter. Catch and release pretty much all the time but if I go for perch I'm a keeper. Love a good perch fish fry.

Ditto on the Perch fry. Every time I am in Michigan, I try to find some place where I can get Perch. Never fished for them' but love to eat them.

Fished em like crazy on Lake Erie when I was a kid in Ohio. U shaped hook , hell you could drop it naked and bring two up on every drop. We took minnows but hardly used them. 200 per person limit and we'd load up 3 or 4 of us in a small boat and reach our limit in about 4 hrs. Great days. Take them home and scrape and filet all day and a two day fish fry after that.

Man if you aren't catching fish down here in Bloomington you need to call me. Or get in touch somehow. Send me an email. First time in my life I heard that Bloomington, Lake Lemon, any lake in Monroe County is not prime with not only alot if fish, but really big fish. So far this year biggest catfish is 57 pounds. Monroe Reservoir Paynetown SRA. Carp is 39.5 lbs also Monroe Reservoir (Four Winns) Bass this year biggest is 8.5 Lake LEMON....Get with me and let's figure out what is going on and why you're not CATCH Ng as many fish as you want.

I really appreciate that. I was basically asking because I haven't fished either Monroe or Lemon. I did fish Lemon from shore once but too many speedboats nearby so they pretty much scared them off. My sons all worked at Monroe ,either in the Shedd or boat rental.area. I will give it a try this weekend. Thank you.
