Hello everyone my name is Misty and I live in Ocean Springs MS. I have lived here for about 30 years. I am originally from Indiana. The fishing down here is a lot different from fishing up in Indiana. I love it on the Gulf Coast. it is one of the coolest places in the United States. The people are polite down here compared to Indiana.

I have fished when I was younger at Monticello Lake in Indiana but I had never saltwater fished before until I got down here. I am still new though. I have went deep sea fishing twice. The first time I caught some good sized Red fish but the second time I was in the cab sick the entire trip. I was so disappointed.

Here we are today. My name is Misty I am a single mother of three wonderful kids and grandmother of 3 awesome grandson. I love my dogs doc and lil bit. I am back to fishing again so if anyone has any pointers on how to to tie a fishing knot Nice to be where we ove he fish

Welcome to the Stage Misty! That's a really beautiful sunset photo you posted. Folks like to share those on here, along with fish pix, so you'll fit right in! Regarding tying knots, verbal explanations really don't work but there are tons of tutorials on YouTube. Here are a couple to get you started: https://youtu.be/SF5T-TfrGs4;

Hint #1. If you get seasick, don't go in the cabin. Fresh air helps.

Welcome to the Stage Mistydawn. Flytier is correct, if you get queasy on a boat, stay outside where you can see the horizon, and out of the cabin. Those links should get you started, improving your knot tieing. Please remember, we love pictures. Good Luck and Tight Lines.

Hey Misty, 1st welcome to the stage,

2nd a few sun rise / sets were posted just the other day here and which ever your pic is is by far one of the best viewed.

3rd as for your knot question if you have a computer just type either a name of a knot or fishing knots in and a detailed printable detail may just help you out.

Looking forward to more pics from down your way. And personally give me salt fishing over fresh any day.

Welcome to FS , Misty!
That’s a beautiful picture you posted. I spent a week in Biloxi, the Christmas after Hurricane Katrina hit, doing rebuilding with our church. At that time it wasn’t so pretty….
The Palomar knot , as shown on the video, is my favorite for most things. It is as easy and strong as any knot for tying on hooks, snaps, or lures. Lots of good experienced people on here, so don’t be shy about asking questions. Nice to have you aboard!

Hi Misty
When I go out on a boat fishing….ocean, gulf or Lake Erie…I always take a Dramamine about an hour before the trip….never had a problem….I have gotten motion sick prior to using Dramamine and not fun!!
As far as knots…lots of videos on utube and will depend on what type of line your using…monofilament or braid…so are u planning on surf casting off the beach pier or from boat…never fished in your area so can’t help you beyond that…
Most of my salt water fishing has been from the surf nj, nc, fl…good luck
Tight lines!!

Misty, it would help when you reply to someone in the future please hit the quote reply. We can guess who the Thank you's are for, but taking the guessing out would help.

Ok so I have to push Quote reply for it to go to the person I was thanking. I thought reply did the same thing. I apologize.
