Do we have any experienced anglers for this area of Florida? There are hundreds of lakes in
and around The Villages.

Hi Mudge, welcome to the Forum. My brother and his GF Winter down there, but he doesn't fish, so, he is no help. Check out any local Fishing Forums, or the FL. DNR.

Lots of Florida folks on the FS. Someone should be able to help you out.
This is Rich, I live in the Villages. also have a house on Lake Griffin in Leesburg. Griffin is part of the Harris chain of lakes. Just sold my Hurricane Deck boat but still fish off my dock and have caught a lot of bass. Haven't fished the lakes in the Villages but have seen people fishing them, especially south of SR 44. There is a freshwater and a saltwater fishing club in The Villages you can check out.
Where in the Villages do you live?

Yep! And they all have Gators!!
I lived in The Villages and for the past 3 years I've lived in Hernando, Citrus County. Closer to the Gulf.

Thanks Richy.
Over in Ocala now and hitting some ponds and creeks. Have fished
the Crystal River with little success so far.

For bass I use a 6 inch Watermelon green regular worm with a weedless hook with good success. No luck with the watermelon red though . Also small life like frogs work. I'm in the Ocala forest.
