There are three places I know on the Kilches that have public access. The water level might be low right now and the cutthroat come in with the salmon and steelhead a little later in the Fall. There are 2 boat ramps that you can fish at and a park at the end of the road and there is a public access point at a gate on the south side off the gravel road after you cross the bridge. You have to hike a little ways into it but there is a deep hole there.

Thank you johnlmac, appreciate the quick reply....also on that note. I have read that there is a bit of controversy regarding the "private property" versus the high water public access dividing line. Do you have any insight to that?

again, thanks
Dennis

From what I have heard the flood line is considered to be river property and the farmers own the land above that. But I have heard of farmers chasing people off the river on their farmland. But they don't own the river. You can float down from one boat ramp to the other. I have seen the Kilches flood way over into the farmer's fields. Just under the bridge at the 2nd boat ramp.

Is this a good wading spots? Either of the boat ramps or the campground?

At the second boat ramp, you can go upstream from the parking lot or this time of year may be wade out on the sand bar. I'm not sure about the campground there may be places up there that you can wade. Most of the land is on private property and from the second boat ramp down the river is in a channel on private property.

Always good to float through or stay in the water wading. Respecting private property is important to making sure they we can fish through properties

Absolutely! There is enough animosity from some land owners already!

This time of year I find the Sea Runs in the shaded moving water. A black and silver 1/16 ounce Rooster tail works well on them
