I live in Morrison Colo , I've been fishing since I was about 4 or 5 . I would use my dad's fly pole and cowboy it out with a worm . I enjoy all type of fishing , ocean , river, lake , stream .
I created this for anyone who wants to chime in on how their doing , where it's hot and where it's not . You don't have to be specific on how , bait or lure , anything that helps us all enjoy this wonderful sport.

I just spent three days fishing in North west Colorado, stopped at Georgetown lake , nailed 2 bows and 1 brown , we were there about a half hour , used a Joe's hopper with slide bubble , then headed up to Turquoise Lake by Leadville , the bite was on for me , got 6 two on cheese power bait and 4 on a pistol Pete last supper ,with the bubble . Then I went to Twin Lakes the next day , bite was on again got 6 more on several other Pistol Pete Flys, the leech brown was working on almost every cast , it was great. OH I released everyone of them , as I have some filets at home .

Welcome Archii, this post brings back memories of some of my fishing adventures in CO. I lived at Copper Mountain and Gunnison for 13 years. Fished all of the places you mentioned, and many more. Always had a fly rod in my truck, never knew when you'd find a new place to fish while driving around.

The best way to learn a new lake is to fish it. Coves and the inlet is where I would start. When I make the 90 mile drive I prefer Spinney over Eleven mile. Bigger fish because of the regulations there. You can keep one over 20" but I always release all Rainbows and Browns. I cull the pike.

The county road in there is terrible.....pot holes bad enough to pop a tire. I hate taking my boat through that mess. I have heard that the county finally did some work on it.

Chatfield is 5 minutes from the house and should start picking up again soon. Tons of fish there but hard to catch if you don't know how to catch them. Crowds are terrible. Fish at night or go early and leave early. Ya gotta know how to work the boat ramps or you are gonna be frustrated.

On another note. I checked the conditions at Spinney and Eleven Mile a couple of days ago and the water temp is crazy warm this year. High 60's! Way to warm for trout to be active......fish early and get home. Fishing shoud return to normal in a couple of weeks once it cools down a bit.

Have a good day.....Putembk

Where in the Denver metro did you purchase the pistol pete flies. Which color works best for morning lake fishing?
