Live on a small lake, full of carp, no idea how to start fishing or what I need though.
Hi guys, basically I live on a lake in the middle of nowhere that is full of carp, I’d love to spend some time fishing on it but have never been before, no idea on rods, bait anything, are there any sites or things you can recommend to me for learning.
Thank you

For Rods and reels, depending on the size of the carp, you want to be looking at 12ft rods, reels you want bait runners and invest in a set of bite alarms, as for bait you want boilies, sweetcorn, spam and if they're on the top bread.

grab an ugly stick combo with 8lb test, some #8 hooks and corn, loaf of potato bread (or garlic knots if you wanna get fancy) ORRR dough you filled with corn kernels. I put that on the hook, no weight or anything else (unless its just corn then i use some split shot) and chuck it out. keep the drag loose, when you hook one it will take offfff. tighten up and bring her in. gotta have a landing net. My fav carp setup is a 4' shakespeare ultralight with 4lb test, i land 10lb carp from a pond on it all day. the "European" set up is more like as described by the other guy but, no need to really do it like that and its more expensive. a lot of stuff on youtube for carp fishing.

I'd go heavier than 8lb

I would go for a 6' 6" foot spinning outfit with 10 pound test line. If you get a 2 piece rod it will be easier to store and transport in the trunk of your car. This gives you room to "grow" into different types of fishing.
For example at walmart you can get the following combo for $50.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Shakespeare-Ugly-Stik-GX2-Spinning-Reel-and-Fishing-Rod-Combo/33590626?selected=trueI learned to fish for carp as a kid using canned whole kernel corn. I just loaded the hook up so that it ended up looking like a hook shaped string of corn.

Check out Catfish and Carp Youtube Channel. He has videos about everything you could possibly imagine. I've had a lot of luck using pack bait with method feeders and hair rigs. My favorite bait is old fashioned oats, whole kernel canned sweet corn and strawberry soda.

yep, and if you mix in a bit of cattail fluff , you have to work to get it off your hook. but thats good
Used it when I was a lot younger it does exactly what you said I forgot the cattail.
When you been 30 28 times over is it alright to be forgetful?

10# 6-7 spinning rod reel, dont forget to have some way ,a rod holder or something to hold your rod if your not holding it. I once lost a new rig to a catfish when I had laid it on the bank and stepped away to help someone w/ a hook.

might have been something else, but I was at one of those stocked catfish places with my daughter and my Mother. My Mom caught her first fish there at 72.
Sweet.
Use to take the wife's Grandma fishing she liked to eat fresh fish as soon as I got them cleaned.
just jerkin your chain about how you knew.
