Best Waders for the money

I am so Damn sick of my waders leaking after less than a season. My current waders are more seam seal than original material now and they just started leaking again. I bought them in January. They are Redington so I thought I was buying a good pair. They had a warranty but it costs more to send them in than it does to patch them up yourself. They have planned obsolescence written all over that warranty system. Anybody have any good recommendations? I am willing to shell out some dough on a good pair if it's money well spent, but I am definitely value oriented.

I just buy my waders from Cabela's. I can usually get them to last quite a while since late spring/summer I forgo the waders and wet wade. For me, I can't justify spending so much on waders that will inevitably leak, no matter the price or brand.

Pay extra for the front zip option. Makes hitting the head a breeze.

This is a good question but, like anything often you’re going to pay for what you get. There’s also preference for body types and the fit that you desire. I’m a short stocky person, and I have found that Patagonia waders fit me best and have been the best quality thus far. I’ve had nothing but problems with SImms and Redington waders and probably wouldn’t purchase them again... also are you looking for chest waders or wading pants? Again it all comes down to your budget. You may also want to consider a quality pair of waiting boots that have a good interface with the waders themselves.

You want to pay $100 per year for crappy waders, or $400 every 4 years for good ones?

One other hint: you're better off buying a low-priced model from a high-end company than the flagship waders of a low-end company.

To answer you specifically, US-made Simms waders are the best; Orvis sonic-welded waders would be my second choice. Make sure they fit (so the seams don't over-stretch during use), and dry them out after every use. Especially don't let the neoprene feet stay wet.

I've had my Simms G3s for 8 years and I've been rough on them. This year was the first time I've had any issue with them. It's just a small leak but for less than $100 I'm going to send them into Simms for cleaning/repairs.

Bought my 2nd pair for waders earlier this week...a pair of G4s. You get what you pay for.

I’ve been wearing Redington Sonic Pros for three years with no issues. Where are yours leaking?

The inner leg seam wore out almost immediately. Clearly this would be a place that should have been reinforced. It's leaking somewhere else now too. Not sure where yet.

I have some LL Bean emergers and simms freestone guide pants. Would highly recommend the LL Beans. $110 and durable as all hell. Ive had them for 3 years with no problems and heavy use. Definitely run a little on the big side and dont look the nicest but they get the job done. have worn them in weathers as cold as 15 degrees (thermals under) and as hot as 105 degrees (was melting)
