I was going to wait to post pictures of my garden but Fireguy gave me the opening. Pics of tomatoes and garlic are from today. The corn is from last August. It is a Peruvian corn according to my brother who sent me the seed. This year’s corn is from seed I saved from last year. I sell the stalks for fall decorations.

When do you open your farm stand? Help pay for your fishin' habit😂

Hey Chief, how many ears do you get on that Peruvian corn.

One big ear and a couple of small ones starting later. It seemed to tassel long before the first ear formed so I was worried that the pollen would be gone before the silks came. I had maybe 30-40 stalks last year. But maybe only 10 ears and just a few matured enough to get seed. I was glad that I had a high percentage germinate. Planted 4-5 hundred this year. I’ll let everyone know how this year turns out.

Thanks for the reply. That is interesting about 1 big ear and a few small ones.

What is the taste compared to with what we are used to with American corn?

Mine was just knee high on the fourth. The first picture is 3 weeks worth of more growth. This picture was taken on the 4th.

A sweet corn is grown here in Maryland and all the farmers advertise they have sweet corn set up on the road side.

I don't know if the soil makes it different or not but all sweet corn from different farmers doesn't taste the same.

Once a good sweet corn stand is found that is the one we hit from year to year.

Hi Plumb,
I didn’t eat any. I just saved the seed to replant. The smaller ears didn’t mature. I got a quart of seed. The mice or chipmunks probably got that much also while it was drying🤬I would assume that this is a meal corn. This year should give me more answers.

Well we will await the results, shouldn't be much longer now.

No, but thanks for the offer Chief. Haven't had a garden in many years and where i live now the deck took up 16 feet of my 22 foot back yard. The pesky HOA took up the rest with mandatory trees planted.

I can sympathize. One of the property owners in a neighboring town got complaints about his property, not sure what for. He put up a tall fence but there were still complaints. He said the people in his town have awful long noses🤣
