Went on the fam vacay to a lake not far from the Wi. Mi.border. Wi. Has a 14” limit on bass in these waters. But the lake is overrun with LMBass. Been going there for 6 years and have experienced the bass growing from 9-10” to last year when they were 13-14”. Well this year the DNR took the size limit off of this lake so we kept some to eat.We release all the Smallies. It's a clear water lake and the bass taste as good as the panfish. Like usual my daughters outfished me. I guess I taught them well.

When you say overrun it indicates too many small fish...I've been involved in watching a few fishery projects, you let the bigger ones go and eat the under two pounders, they taste great, the idea is to take the smaller fish pressure off of the bigger fish so they have less competition for what they all eat. Too many smaller sized fish keeps all the fish smaller.

Yep, that's true. The locals have been trying to get the DNR to remove the limit for years. They simply want to reduce the population. We did catch a few 15 and 16 inchers. Stomachs gave up crayfish and perch. The bluegills and perch are small. My wife loves crappie fishing and caught just as many bass as crappies on the Atomic Twister. We also caught "enough" hammer handle pike. It's a Class A Musky water and it used to be a great walleye lake but now they seem far and few apart.
Good times, makin memories. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a great vaca to me. Lots of wonderful memories made there.
Congrats to you all on all the fish.
Couldn't agree more bout keepin the smaller ones and releasing the larger ones. That's what helps the fishery out, otherwise they get stunted from over population. Too bad more people don't/can't figger that out and help the situation by keepin some of the smaller bass to eat or give away to friends/neighbors.
