Anybody having any odd issues with their gas vehicles? My one ton dually started running rough and getting hard to start. My mechanic said he’s seeing more and more issues with older vehicles and it’s all gas related. My truck is a 97 Chevy with a 454 in it. Not only is our gas, almost, impossible to afford it’s destroying our vehicles. So far it’s ruined the fuel pump, two fuel filters and three sensors in 6 months. It, also, plays havoc on catalytic converters. I’m just saying don’t go for the cheapest gas you can find. Here we only have two gas stations and one has really bad fuel. I learned the hard way by going to the one that’s 30 cents a gallon cheaper. Bad move.

Lots of warnings about not using the E85 out there…so WHY is it still made?

He could have water in his tank at the station. That does happen. The mechanic should be able to tell it if you have water in your tank.

I've run into bad gas before but it usually comes from one particular station. In time it seems new tanks are going in.

Right? And E85 at some stations has something in it that’s destroying engines and electrical parts. My mechanic said it’s getting worse by the day. Failing components are a daily, scheduled, event for him and it’s all gas related according to him. Just relaying what I’ve heard. And sharing my, personal, experiences. I bought my truck new in 1997. It’s never had an issue until this year. It’s always been very reliable but it’s not real good on gas with a 454 in it so I only use it for what I bought it for. Towing my boat, hauling my camper and all the heavy stuff. I also have a 1995 chevy turbo diesel I bought new. It’s running fine. My gas rigs are showing signs of something weird coming out of the gas pumps. I’ve burned up two catalytic converters in less than a year in my two smaller cars.

No water present. He tested for that.

I always try to use ethanol free gas. As a lifelong professional mechanic, I have seen what that corn alcohol can do to any rubber part in the fuel system

Got that right! Ethanol gas is hard on everything it goes in. Older vehicles are exceptionally hard hit by it.

That would be great here but we only have one station in Riggins with non-ethanol and it’s $6.50/gallon compared to $5.39 for regular. I’d still buy the non-ethanol but that’s where I got the gas that screwed my pickup up and it WAS non-ethanol. I’m not so sure gas stations are really selling what’s marked on the pumps any more. I know they’re, federally, regulated but how far can we trust the federal government right?

Very true Hunt. I’d love to buy an old, early to mid 70s, truck again but I’m not sure I could find and gas it would run on. My boss has two old Ford pickups and he puts a can of sea foam in them every time he fills them up or they won’t even run on, modern day, premium (non ethanol). They won’t even run at all on anything else. 🤨🤬

Start putting boosters additives in your to build up your octane.
That's what I'm doing and send your Bill to Mr. Biden
And tell him thank you and you expect him to pay the bill Pronto!!!😅🤣😂

Even my 5yr old mower has a graphic embossed on the gas cap... the circle with the slash across and "EG85" as the center !
Obviously Briggs and Stratton does NOT want it screwing with their motors.
IMO...ALL ethanol sucks. A horrible "invention" that is nowhere near the "saving grace" it is purported to be.
NOT saving any $$ by production.
NOT more efficient (they lied).
NOT good for ANY motor according to EVERY mechanic that I ever quizzed.
(One said that the only other product that was this deceptive in its claims was Pennzoil's claim to "clean" your engine....."Might as well throw a 1/4cup of Dawn dish soap in your gas tank....same help, same harm".... hehehe)
Subsidizing corn farmers....or any farmers, for that matter , creates a false economy that is always "short-term helpful, long-term harmful", on so many levels, including giving large corporate farms huge profits and private farms a very temporary bailout that surely will eventually come back to bite them in the ass.....a tax break today, is a tax BILL in the future.

Ethanol is also more polluting to make that if we just stayed with oil based gas. Also the flex fuel vehicles that are designed to burn E-85 gas have less power and less fuel mileage on E-85 than they do when using regular unleaded gas in the same vehicle.

My father in law owned a gas station for a while. In all the years we rode together he would never buy gas when there was a gas delivery truck at the station. I asked why once and he said the delivery stirs up the sediment and it could end up in your tank.

What are you using Andy. I, already, put Lucas gas treatment in it every time I fill up and a can of sea foam about every 4th tank as recommended by a mechanic I kinda trust. He said we’re not gonna get away from fuel problems before long and it’s all part of the plan to get people driving electric vehicles. That means I’ll be riding my mule because I’m not caving into the electric crap. Plus who can afford $40,000.00 for a little tiny car that holds two people and the cost of putting in a charging station at home. And I can tell you. It’s not as simple as just running to Home Depot and getting a couple parts to wire in a dryer plug like it’s been mentioned on here. Anybody 4 years old can do that. That don’t work for charging up an electric vehicle.
