Good college buddy Greg took me on a gorgeous stretch of the Blackfoot river yesterday. Talk about legendary, do you remember a “River Runs Through It”? Did you know most of the fishing scenes were filmed on the Gallatin river and most other scenes were in Paradise Valley on the Yellowstone near Livingston, not the Blackfoot.
Anyway we had a good time, caught a few fish, missed a few and we both got broke off by nice ones. I got some lessons on my backcast as I don’t flyfish nearly as much as Greg. More importantly Greg gave expert tutelage on rowing his boat when it was his turn to fish.
I gotta say there’s a lot more to rowing when trying to keep the one fishing in the right zone to cast where the fish hold.
Sorry not too many pics as most fish were native cutthroats and were keepin em wet and releasing.
Take care and tight lines!

Alright TIM. I wish I could be there Good Buddy. Thanks for sharing. We will be on Samson in a few weeks Hookin Coho. I hope your doing great.

Oarsman is a Job in itself for sure. As the Captain you do have complete control but wind and current never seem to leave you alone at times. Fighting fish will tug the boat a bit. Inflatables are neat because they are easily stowed for transport.

Thanks for sharing Tim. I do remember the movie "A River Runs Through It" for sure.

Glad you guys had a good time. Fly fishing is fun if you have someone that knows what they are doing to help things along. Keep after it and you will get proficient. You are very talented.

Awesome trip Tim. That's a beautiful river, and I can't imagine rowing a rig like that and looking for fishy spots to put someone on, with the current, and the wind!!! I'm exhausted typing about it. LOL. Thanks for sharing buddy.

Thanks buddy. I’ve been learning to fly fish for about 30 years now, haha.
