I just relayed information I got from fish biologists at multnomah falls. I’m guessing they might be a good source but who knows. I’ve seen the fish right below the falls and under the bridge leading to the tourist center but it was hard to tell what they were. Most of them around 3 feet long but falling apart and not moving much in the deeper holes.

so what was the information that you got? of course the fish you saw sounds like spawned out Chinook, or chum is that the guess of the fish biologist?

The fish that I saw there a few years ago were Coho, not Chinook or Chum.

I didn't say anything about the ones I saw being 36". Although I have seen a few that looked that long. My buddy caught a wild Coho last year on the Columbia that looked like a Chinook that was that long.

oh sorry I was referring to the quote further up the stream where it was posted about the fish seen as "Most of them around 3 feet long but falling apart and not moving much in the deeper holes." which to me seemed like they would more likely be chinook or chum since they are more likely to be that size. but you are right I have heard of Coho that size but still that is a big Coho and I would love to catch one

Fish always look bigger in the water. 3' is just an approximant size looking at a fish in the water. Hard to tell but they look about that long.
