Too much browsing ended up w/ me buying a short light rod today. But it was only 20 bucks, and I had more than that on a amazon return :)
I want to put a 1000 {shimanosizing} reel on it. Trout Magnet has a couple nice looking rods , but the shortest was 6.6. I wanted a 5.6.

Kinda trying to recreate a setup I had almost 15 yrs ago,, when my daughter was young and we would go to Uvalde every summer for a week. I had 2.. a yellow Eagle Claw {if I remember right} and a no name Id got maybe 25 yrs ago. Don t know when I lost the Eagle Claw,, but the no name broke this spring.

The place we stayed had the Nueces river in their backyard , and I had tons of fun catching small bass and sunnies in foot deep water in places. sometimes like 5-8 in consecutive cast , with a inline spinner .no skill on my part ,, just a good area and people were fishing in deeper waters. that little rod made it fun.

Fishing with ultralight 5’ 6” rods is a lot of fun and comes with its challenges. Sounds like you found a good bargain. I have two rods .One is a Cabela’s fish eagle with a shimano 1000FE . It works pretty well but I tend to use it for the heavier of my ultralights (spinners and spoons) . The one is a Cajun Rods rod paired with a a Pflueger SPX25 . More sensitive and casts the really light tackle further . It’s a little easier to detect the bite in fast water. Have fun with your ultralight.

Use in most lakes and ponds, even the Lake of the Ozarks, and Wolf Creek aka: Coffee County.

Out of the boat just set the drag and off to the races, works well for crappie and catfish. Single hook preferably no weight or jigs for crappie watch the line movement not the pole so much.
