My grandfather got my dad these two Daiwa BG13’s in the 80’s to get him started. I found them in the basement on broken rods and decided to give them a deep clean :) he’s happy to have them working again
Not a single broken part except for a slightly bent bail kick lever, which only took a couple seconds to bend back. Gotta love BG build quality!
This was my first reel maintenance ever, I used corrosion-x, reel-x, and daiwa grease.

Very nice. I love that daiwa still makes the BG and has even updated it. Slap some carbon drags in there and youll be good for a long time

Only problems with ours are bail springs going out! One set of bearings in 20 years too. Great saltwater reels!
