Had a nice morning up here in Mt Shasta fishing the Upper Sacramento River. The fish on the bottom has beautiful spots compared with the other fish.
Nice, are you fishing around Dunsmuir or above?

Mostly south of Dunsmuir, I usually don’t hit the known spots in town b/c they get constant pressure from locals and everyone else.

There are some pretty spots!!! Nice fish!
Gold blue fox caught me lunch today. Almost too pretty to eat
Hi PNW!! My Dad & I used to go up there every summer-- camped in Castle Craigs State Park. Fished Castle Creek and the Sac at Soda Creek & Castella in the day use stretch of river!! He taught me how to collect Helgremites--- best trout bait EVER!!! Put one of those babies on and as soon as it hit the water it would get WHACKED!! Thanks for bringing back great memories!! Next time up the try the Canterra Loop area on the Sac--- where they had that train wreck and subsequent insecticide spill YEARS ago. It KILLED the river for many years after. Glad to see an "old friend" is back!!

I’ll try those helgremites next time up. I see them on the rocks all the time . I just love this whole area besides great fishing the whole vibe up here is great. Scenery, clear water, forest trees and all the drinking water is spring water. Canters loop is beautiful but is strictly fly fishing only. I don’t fly fish but if I did, that’s a great place to go
Hit Hat Creek today and it paid well. Headed back home today and can’t wait till my next trip up here in 4 weeks
Glad to hear the "H-Bombs", as I used to call them, have made a comeback after the spill!! I used to use a size 10-12 salmon egg hook a a split shot so they looked close to a natural drift---- one hit bait!! They used to tear them up!! Let me know how you do with them!! Good luck my friend!!
That looks like the "pond" above the little dam @ Cassel!! Nice bow buddy!! Heard it was 107* in Redding yesterday--- hot on the creek??
