Tim(Bric) picked me up bright and early at 5am. Lot of reports of major winds coming into the area. So we arrived at Hauser Lake to a stunning sunrise. Beautiful morning and light wind so we launched and started fishing a little after 6. Mostly trolling and throwing some lures. Around 7am, I get my first ever Walleye! If you look closely you can see it in the picture. I decide to try my rod that I broke the tip on with a lure that I saw on one of JB’s fish. Rod works fine and I catch two more little walleyes. We moved to try different places, and Tim’s rod goes off and he lands a pretty nice trout. Later in the morning, Tim lands another nice trout. Wind would pick up occasionally and then die. Around 1pm or so, my rod goes off and the fish makes big run. This fish is huge, so we rule out trout. We both agree, it is a monster walleye or carp. I fight the fish for a good 5 min, and start to gain slowly get some line back. We have not seen the fish at all. Finally get it close to the boat, but it is still deep and species unknown. It obviously sees the boat and takes off on another run. Takes out about 30 ft of line and you guessed it, comes off. Bummer, but a great fight!! We then start a slow troll back towards the dock as the wind is picking up. My rod goes off again and I am on a real nice trout that puts on a great aerial display jumping 3 or 4 times. I manage to get it in and Tim nets it. We guess it is in the 3-4 lb range. Time to head in before the wind gets any worse.
What a great day, and Tim is an awesome guy to fish with and truly a nice person. Later we met Tim’s wife Lacy and we had a great dinner at the “Windbag”, which was once a brothel during the mining days. Thanks again Tim

Great pictures, looks like you guys are having a blast. Bummer that you didn’t get a visual on the one that got away, I hate when that happens.

What a great day fishing while on you and your wife’s adventure. After keeping up with your posts I can tell you like music while traveling. When y’all get a chance listen to the song “Eugene” by Greg Brown. It’s a song about both fishing and traveling. Stay safe and keep an eye out for what’s around the next bend😎👍
