Hey folks, new to fishing stage. I have always fished for catfish on the Muskingum River, now that the wife and I have more time we would like to fish some of the lakes in Ohio.

Looking for any advice or suggestions on where and how to fish on the lakes.

The wife likes pan fish for the action, and I'm partial to cats.

We do have a pontoon with a 15 hp motor.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Stage Riverrat. We've got some great fisherpeople in Ohio. They'll be along, but until then, Good luck and Tight Lines.

Riverrat,my son lives in Belmont,West Virginia and when we visit,we fish some at Seneca. Lots of panfish and catfish in there along with bass and stripers. Donโ€™t know how close you are but itโ€™s a good place to fish

Seneca is close for us. Nice lake, but awful busy and big wake.
Thanks for suggesting

Welcome to the stage Riverrat I grew up on the Muskingum river above Mcconnelsville. I have a river lot on the Muskingum. Burr Oak is a nice lake for cats an panfish. It's 9.9 motor lake but you can use bigger motors an just idle along making no wake. Alot of lakes around southeast Ohio. Good luck an tight lines we love pics. If you don't have the new app for Ohio. Check out HUNT FISH OHIO APP. It's a great resource ๐Ÿ‘ again welcome aboard ๐Ÿ˜€

Iโ€™ve read that Pymatuning lake is good fishing lake. Popular with walleye, smallmouth bass, and panfish. Iโ€™ve never fished it myself though. Itโ€™s on the northeast border of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Good luck ๐Ÿ‘

We see a few but I've never had a problem with them. Water snakes that is.
Now I can't say anything about the trails. My mother grew up there ( my grandfather was damn engineer) and always claimed there are copperhead

It is a nice lake, it's supposed to be 10 hp or no wake so it's fisherman friendly. But you always get thar one guy who feels the need to throw a 3 foot rooster tail but but not too often.
