Summer shrimp fishing in Cocoa

So I have been fishing my whole life but new about 5 years to Florida. My question is about shrimp I'm trying to catch my own to use for bait. I have a 12 foot jon boat so I can get out on the water not just docks. But what is the best area and type of trap are people using over the winter I saw alot of people in titistville catch right off the pier but have not seen anything in my area please help

You can get cast nets at Bass Pro. Cast from Jon boat, let out about 40 -50 feet of rope while rowing away from the net. Then stop and drag it towards you. If there are shrimp you should get some. Aside from this, casting from a low pier is another possibility.

Do a google search for shrimping in St. Johns river to Cocoa Beach. Capt. Lee Noccia and http://www.shrimpnfishflorida.com/howtocatchshrimp.html !!! We live on west coast and have seasonal runs not like east coast shrimp runs! Traps to cast nets and we use dip nets for just surface dip netting under bridge lights and swift out going currants. Thanks for the info I also found the water is just too warm right now
