My son and his buddy caught these hogs at the buddy's grandparent's farm ponds. Always refreshing to catch unjaded fish! Pic 1 on Jackhammer chatterbait; pic 2 on floating Zoom trick worm.
Wow and wow! That brings back some sweet memories of pond fishing where I lived before moving back to Table Rock. Your description of the fish and the fisherie is spot on - pond fishing is really different from big lakes. And no jetskis! Awesome to see young'ns holding up hawgs. I can hear the boys hollering with joy!

They still haven't stopped talking about it, lol! Those were their individual PBs for those respective ponds.

That's awesome DC. I wish we had a pond like that around here. Thanks for the pictures.
Congrats to the boys as well!
Nice fish. I would like to find a pond like that
Sweet, nothing like fishing a righteous private pond. Did you keep them or release them?
Thanks for sharing pictures and story!!!

Fred - so do I! The farm is 7 hrs from metro DC in western SC, which is a bummer, but good for the bass I guess.

Most of our farms have closed and sold to developers. Any ponds that haven't been filled in are off limits to all but residents. The only undeveloped bodies of water are the secondary reservoirs, that we still can't fish in. Gotta be full of clueless fish though. Maybe someday......
We had a pay to fish pond up by Redding called Ross's Pond but it was great. They kept it up and there were nice BMB, Catfish, Blue Gill and SMB, some other sunfish. I think it's for sale 825 acres with two lakes, including Ross's Pond for a measly $3,595,000.....They might have some plans to incorporate to a local college and public space but back in the 70's we caught a lot of nice fish bobber fishing with minnows....good times!

FLS - they were released. The boys did however keep whatever dinks they caught for dinner, on the theory that thinning out the youngsters means more food resources available for the remaining bass to grow bigger.
The boys have known each other since the 1st grade and as fate would have it, discovered they shared this mutual interest since 6th grade, so this farm outing has become an annual summer event. They regularly get together almost weekly the rest of the year to hit up the local fisheries.

Thanks Rhyno -- you would know since you're the Hog O.G.! I don't know about your west coast hogs but catching big'uns (LMBs at least) seems anticlimactic since they don't really put up much of a fight. It's like just reeling in dead weight. I guess sorta like us when we get old and fat; don't really move around as much.
Congrats to the boys on some great bass! Thanks for sharing!
