What are the current conditions? Where to fish? What lures and bait to use. Is shore fishing or boat fishing better.

I've fished that lake several times and from my experience now is not a good time, unless you like crowds. Lots of folks up there with their families on vacation. How many millions of people live in the Bay Area? Well, about a 1/4 of them are up there at Pinecrest. But if you're determined, get a boat so you can get away from them. No way can you fish peacefully from the bank. You want to do that, go up when the kids are back in school.

Thanks, problem is, we have a family vacation in Twin Harte so I was thinking of getting a boat for that reason. Better to use lures or bait?

I've only fished the bank with powerbait and nightcrawlers. If you want to do some kick back and relax bank fishing, go to Lyons Reservoir. Google it. No boats allowed and you'll pretty much have the place to yourselves. One of my favorites up that way.

Thanks. I have been there and will try it, very nice quiet place. Any stream suggestions in the area?

Differently boat and using a mouse tail with a little power bait and they do have boat rentals.
Good luck

Bait 2 lb or 4lb test line I start at the dam and drift to the water fall at the end of the lake.
Also bring a second ankor so you can set you boat steady in position on the water.
Good luck and a safe trip

I'm slowly moving from my walker to a cane. That's a good thing. Day by day. Thanks for asking Andy.

Cover your bases. Have a two rod license, drop a line with bait and use lures on the other one. See which one works.
