One thing I've found out about night fishing I s always fun. Another the full moon and dark moons fish different. On full moons bass prefer shad and bream or bluegill colors especially in clear water. In new moons or stained water they prefer dark colors . Purple or black worms or dark colored top water. Another thing is fish oriented to different cover than they do in the day time. My daytime weed beds are different than my nighttime ones.

Whole lot better than the 104 deg. day time fishing! I agree about the different way they act.

If you can find one a wooden musky jitterbug in black is my all time favorite. On full moon I use a white one with a red head.the three 3/0 treble hooks must be sharpened to a good point. I don't know why but the tone of the wood our produces the plastic ones they use today. I've aquired about a dozen over the years through frugal shopping.

It has go gone so bad around here, during the day, the night would be a really bad idea, with all the gators. We really have a problem, and it is getting worse! In one yr. if you have 50 female gators, that lay 9-15 eggs, lets round out to 10. That would be an extra 500 more gators. They are now eating each other during the day, and the heat doesn't help. I use to fish at nite, but not anymore, not scared, just respect them and their territory.

We have a few here in the coves, but have not seen any out on the main lake yet.

They need land to sleep, so they will never be too far away from it. The only predator they have is human, and a larger gator. I did see a picture of one big one eating a 5' close to the docks in Lacassine refuge. One of the guys that had one stop him at the dock to pick up his boat, bit a hole in his front fender and ripped the plastic off the front, he told me he came out to the water to do that.

Went fishing last night (Friday) in Lake Charles with my brother in law…. He had access to a dock with a Big Lamp the was pointing to the water. We got there about 10:30 pm. We caught 3 Redfish and only one Speck (Trout)…
That was around 11:15 pm. They stopped biting like someone turned off the faucet!! Even though we fished till
1 pm… we caught nothing else. We’ll try again next weekend. Sorry, no
Pictures, maybe next weekend.
Good luck everyone & Stay Outta the
Heat !!!
