Just returned from four days at Oak Lake lodge on Oak Lake in Ontario. The water is still high (about three feet above normal) but the fishing was pretty good. I took two guys for the first time and two old vets. One of the newbies is twenty and the son of a friend. He had a blast.
Because of the high water we had to work really hard.
I got a 39 inch northern while jigging with an ultralight that was really thick and a fifteen minute fight followed the hook up. We got lots of 20 to 22 inch (I got a 24 inch) walleye and small mouth bass were hitting as well.
Also had a strange thing happen. My boat partner and I caught a walleye that had both of our jigs in its mouth and jigs still attached to both of our lines (see pic). Haven’t seen that before.
At 74 I am thinking three days may have been enough.
Beautiful fish! Thanks for the pics.
Nice bunch of fish. I like fishing that type of water in the walleye photo.
