Got out again targeting walleye. Went to this pretty cool spot that a guy from our local Sportsman warehouse told me about this spring. It’s on the next reservoir downriver from my usual haunts.
It’s called the ‘dredge cuts’ no secret spot but on Monday all to myself. There’s a sapphire mine right on the lakeshore and there’s this channel that runs parallel to the the shoreline, the dredge cut. About as wide as a reasonable cast I guess like 40-50 yds. Then it’s really shallow, and rocky it’s the top berm of the dredge cut. Kinda like a reef. Saw quite a few carp that would go 15 -20 lbs in the reef area.
Anyway where I caught walleye was 10 ft of water in the channel. Landed four fish, lost a couple messing around trying to get my phone out and several bites that were missed.
And I caught my PB walleye today! 18” and pretty thick, which is nothing I know, but for me it was pretty awesome. Landed another almost the same size. Released all today. Got enough fillets from yesterday, lol.
Oh yeah and one for you JB, caught one on a drop-shot, so awesome!
1st one in the dredge cut
PB walleye
PB
Not quite as big, bottom hoop in my net is about 18”
Nice fishing!! I really enjoy eating those. Being from CA I hadn't had a chance until a few years back in Michigan!!
DELICIOUS! Thanks for sharing pictures!
