Will be taking family on vacation in the next week to Bass Lake Ca. Looking to catch some Spotted/Largemouth bass and maybe some Kokanee. Anybody got any tips on spots to fish (taking boat) and what lures are working?
Thanks!

Hey bassraider,, if you have downriggers try kokeenutz I believe they're called, front of the dam ,or dodgers, wedding Rings pink or chartreuse tipped with white corn or pinched nite crawlers, you need to track the water column on your Fishfinder for baitballs or holding fish,, shoot out a PM to Johnklang, he lives right by there,,🤙🤙good luck!!🤙🤙
Let us know how you do, that’s the only place I haven’t fished at yet
Couldn't find Johnklang in the users list?

Well I'm in Maui at the moment but if you're bass fishing I'd suggest senko's and drop shot around the docks if you're boat fishing. Shore fishing will be tougher, similar tactics and I'd try creek channels in coves. I've had the most luck with green/baby bass colors. Bass Lake this time of year is tough with all the recreational boaters, particularly on weekends. There is a 5 mph speed limit before 8 so if you get out early, it's less difficult. Pretty lake even with the loss of thousands of Ponderosa pines but it's also a warm lake that attracts lots of people. I don't even fish it Memorial day to Labor day. The lake is probably at 75 to 80% which is pretty good in comparison to the other lakes I fish. Eastman is at 10% of capacity and hasn't been over 12% in two years. I was there last week and they are letting water out. Eastman and others are lakes for irrigation of orchards that fishermen get to use as a sideline but the water was always intended for farmers. P.S. There is also a fire about 15 miles north in Yosemite so it may be smoky. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is what it is. Pray for rain. We need it.
Thanks johnklang! Been talking with someone up there that has said smoke is minimal so probably still going and taking boat. Maybe Ill try Eastman as well!!
Best of luck to you. There are some other lakes around like Millerton, Pine Flat, Hensley, as well as Eastman. They are all an hour or so from Bass Lake. Sportsmans Warehouse and the Fresno Bee post fish reports but I think they use each others, they're mostly identical.
