I just watched a video comparing a brand new ford,f-150EV to a brand new Chevy Silverado 1500 gas with comparable towing power. Both towing a 6,000 pound trailer. Basically your typical, tandem axle, toy hauler. Flat ground no headwind through Colorado during the daylight hours with no lights on and one person in each pickup. The EV pickup successfully completed 86 miles and was warning low charge. That wouldn’t get me and my boat to he nearest lake and back and there’s no charging stations on the way. The throttle level was down to 90% and they had to turn back to the closest recharging station to avoid being towed. Estimated charging time back to full charge was 23 minutes. The gas powered pickup still had 264 miles of range left according to it’s computer. I’m definitely not sold on the EV concept. Probably never will be. Just keep my horses in shape and get back to the old days👍

Catfish about these fantastic EV trucks. I read n article on them n it talked about modifications on them. If you lift them n put bigger tires on them you further diminish your range. If I remember right full charge truck only 282 miles. Also read where the charging rates will go up n states are talking mileage tax on electric vehicles. Is it true Oregon n Washington state already do that🤔

I don't know about them Butch, but Connecticut is working on that right now. The reasoning is, they're not paying road tax on fuel, but still contributing to wear and tear on the roads. It kinda makes sense.

I’ve heard about the fire thing too and, generally, when they do catch on fire the batteries blow up. And not just a little explosion either. That makes me, also, wonder what’s gonna happen when they’re involved in a fender bender.💥💥💥

Yep and that’s under optimum conditions. 70 degrees outside, no hills, no pulling a load and one person in the vehicle with no head wind. Kinda puts em out for a winter rig in the mountains huh? They WILL tow an average boat (18 foot type boat) but how far? Most wont make it to the lake or river and back on a charge but, hey, they’re only ten grand more than a gas rig. And have a 4 to 6 year life expectancy 👍 😂.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they do.

Very interesting, Cat, and so were the comments from others. I don't think I will own one during this lifetime. Thanks, Cat, and all of you who commented.

That is how I've heard it and yea, EV's should pay for road repairs also.

I've read that fire departments have to treat EV fires different than gas fires.

Until someone in power breaks down or is left at a recharging station in the waiting mode for hours the push for EV's will go on.
We can forget cross country see the USA trips, business meetings out of state met on time, Florida vacation will be spent extra days in road side cockroach hotels, and just what do we do with all the dead batteries in 10 years.
Yea, no foreseeable need to get one in my short time left here.

I like the Ford F-150 EV truck concept. It’s way early in this generation of EV trucks for me to think about owning one. Hopefully I live long enough to buy the 2nd or 3rd generation.😎👍
