Anyone know of any great fishing spots around McCall Idaho?
Lake Lowell for bass. Im New to Idaho but trout has been easy. Smallies going off everywhere. Fish the snake river away from the easy spots that people wear out.

Little palette lake is decent and close. Mostly small mouth bass and trout. The little salmon river below Hazard Creek is always good trout fishing. Cascade lake is really good for perch, trout, catfish, bullheads, catfish and bass (both small mouth and large mouth) from December through June. December till the ice goes off in March is mostly perch and trout at cascade lake. The Payette River is pretty good most of the time for trout from McCall past Cascade for trout and bass.
I checked out Cascade, but the algae was looking pretty bad. I will give Little Payette a try this week. Are any of the lakes in the area good for Kokanee? I would really like to learn how to catch them!

I met a guy at cascade a while back and he was headed to Horse thief. He said he catches lots of Kokanee up there. I’ve been there but never fished it.
That algae is a yearly deal at cascade. It will settle down before long but the water skiers and jet skiers take that place over in the summer. We fish it through the ice and do real well for perch and trout and then out of a boat trolling from ice out to around the middle of June. This year I was catching perch, trout and bullheads on the west side, straight across from the golf course by the boat ramp from the bank but that was dead last Monday. I’m headed north to fish the rest of the summer. Clearwater river and Dwarshak. The Snake River is great all summer for good numbers on bass and trout. Pittsburg landing is where I go. Good luck.
I have been by Horsethief a few times and have thought about taking the RV up there. I will give it a try. I do understand that F&G stick it every May. I did my first Kokanee trip last August to Dwarskak but the Koks were spawning and had moved out of the dam area and I was told they were about 80 miles North, also told that the best fishing was from early Spring until the 4th of July. In spite of the dealer modifications on my pontoon boat, I couldn’t get the troll speed slower than 2mph. That was the reason I bought a 1450 side console aluminum boat and put a trolling plate on it. Due to major snow and ice damage repairs so far this year, the boat is still a virgin fish catcher.

The more you get the bottom of the boat wet the more you learn. 😉
Today as we were finally getting the damages from the ice dam in February repaired and the house back to normal, we turned on the water line that feeds the sprinkler system. This morning we rose to find the guest bedroom and garage floor wet. No matter what, the boat is going to get its maiden run this week. Little Payette is so close. Any advice on trolling for kokes or trout?
