While setting along a rock pile in the Susquehanna River I looked down along my boat and seen a fish I've never seen before.
Have anyone ever come across anything like this while fishing?
I could be wrong but It looks like a young mud puppy.

Sure looks like it’s trying to grow some legs don’t it? I agree with ya.
I showed our local F&B guy, he was stumped.

Looks like a tessellated darter to me, they’ve got no air bladder and consequently can’t maintain neutral buoyancy.
I agree with the mud puppy
I know my Pop use to talk about mud puppies, he dredged cole on the Susquehanna and Swatara back when Cole was big. Myself, I've never seen one.
Isn't a mud puppy a salamander? That sure looks like some kind of fish to me. I''m saying it's a darter.
Yes Sir, I have no idea. Biologist for PA F&B had no idea at all.
I figured something maybe Left over from Three Mile Island. 🤔
Well Spiritof27, he didn't stay around long and most likely was one of those muskie's in that hole I was fishing supper.
I've been keeping my eyes open but haven't run across another one yet.
I'm out just about everyday now, I get to see a lot of different things.
I got 4 pictures of it, then it took off.
