Was wondering if anyone has experience (bad or good) this time of year with walleyes in this area? I'm a Wisconsin, Canada Minnesota walleye fisherman using principally planer boards (Great Lakes. Green Bay) or bottom bouncers in Canada. Unfamiliar with River, Dam impoundments or many of Western US approaches to walleye fishing.

Good morning, Bob. Welcome to the Forum.

You can catch walleye using much of the same technique in all waters. At times the presentation may be a little different. The presentation will be determined by the depth of the water and the current. The Miss. River, which is my home water, usually has a 9' channel, sometimes in the Spring, it will become deeper, due to the snow run-off. You will have to use whatever it takes to put the bait in their zone. Walleye will be lying on the bottom of the body of water if it isn't too deep. I have caught them at 40' in some lakes and I caught my 31" in 2' of water, 2' from shore. Water temp. is an important consideration too. Good luck and tight lines.

A buddy I went to high school holds the state record. Caught in winter near where snake river meets the Columbia. J13 Rapala, 2 ounce bottom walker. Never see anyone use planer boards for walleye down there. They stay near the bottom mostly.

Bottom walker with night crawler on a death roll spinning hook us simple and also work. Stay near the bottom. 30 to 40 foot. Rocky points and ledges.

https://www.bestfishinginamerica.com/ is run by my friend Eric and gives fishing info about Washington and Oregon.
Some of my input there is in Potholes Res and Moses Lake, including some photos of my walleyes. I used to live in Kennewick, but retired in Moses Lake when I found out about the excellent walleye population there.
I jig fish on riprap rocks during twilight 1/8th oz 4" fake fish crappie colors...1.5 hr before sunrise to sunrise and sunset to 50 minutes after.
For example last night caught 21" walleye at 9:40 pm in Moses Lake.
