Fishing for stripers are circle hooks mandatory nationwide. Here in N H , Massachusetts and I think Maine they are.

I believe it's only on the East Coast Billy, and it's Federal. It only applies to Saltwater fish, and in rivers connected to the ocean.

Probably the same top to bottom on east coast Fred. Some reports I've read requires barbless n non stainless. Stripers down this way was over harvested. All the new regs are for being them back π

I haven't seen anything about barbless or stainless steel hooks Grizz, but I'll look into it. That might be a state regulation down there.
Nothing about barbless or stainless in Jersey or Delaware. The whole idea is to prevent gut hooked fish.

It may be or just misinformation. I know MD. has some strict regs on many things. All about more money. Permits n special licenses for everything. MD state licenses doesn't cover bay or tidal waters. That's extra π
Yes in saltwater or rivers connected to the ocean on the east coast if you use live bait or chunked mackerel or other chunked fish or clams, sand eels, etc for bait then you must use an inline circle hook. It can not be an offset circle hook or J hook.

Some are greedy brother. Paid all the taxes then pay more to use what your tax money went to. Seems like a bad business deal to me π€π€’
