Washington Fishing

Anyone going to try the 3 day opener in Area 7? New to that area and have never fished it. I would be launching at Washington Park. Any advice on locations near there and best bait-lures to run? Any help is appreciated.

Wind permitting, I will launch out of Blaine. I have no idea where I will go. I will likely shoot over to the North side of Orcas Island

Thanks, I'm closer to the south end of area 7. Will probably try Rosario Strait. Good luck! Let me know how you do.

Same with you. I plan to fish all three days.

Try around Sucia Island = been pretty hot.

It has been to windy for my boat. Hopefully I can get out Saturday.

I tried Thursday and the swells were too big for my 20 footer. Coming out of Deception Pass was crazy. I guess I'll try in August. Good luck tomorrow. MY crab pots were full of BIG Dungees so it wasn't a total bust.

Where around Sucia can you fish, given the extreme tides and associated current. What type salmon are you speaking of? I usually fish silvers at 20 to 40 feet, and kings at 80 to 100 feet?

Do you crab right in Cornet Bay? That seems like a small area for a lot of boats. Do many people go east out of Deception Pass to crab? I usually wait until 7N opens in August and get all the crab I can eat while stocking up on Sand Dabs. right up to Christmas. On a happy note for me, I just ordered a power crab and shrimp puller. That will add some variety to the menu. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and put the Mako 30 back in the water and forget about the cost. Then I can say weather be damned as I fish my way into the poor house.

I have been getting my crabs about a mile southeast of coronet bay boat lanch. Best luck in about 70 to 80 feet. Rarely do we not limit out. Soak for about 3 hrs is all it takes.

Thanks, It would be fun to try. I have never launched out of Cornet or fished the deception pass area. I hope you got out for salmon today. I did not go. My broken old body and throbbing head told me it is a good day to stay home and rest. Oh well, some things just aren't meant to be. I plan to take the 11 year old grandson out sand dab and shark fishing on Wed. He will be spending a few days with me. I am also taking my other grandson out for his first boat fishing trip this week. He is 3, so lots of wake bouncing and not much fishing.
