Nice Job 67, what time's dinner?
Nice catch!
I am staying in Port Ludlow for a work trip and we're launching the boss's boat tonight to set some pots, I am very excited!!
Good luck! About 60 to 70 feet was working best. 40 feet was more Rocks then Dungeness. Used salmon scraps for bait.
We are putting our boat in this evening at the Langley Marina.
The area in front of my cabin has about 24 traps already in.
I hope they left some for me!
I could imagine. There were hundreds of pots already in the water when I was dropping mine at 7am.
Another nice batch of Dungeness this morning in area 8-1. Got our limit of 10 and 2 Rock 🦀

Mustang, do you steam up those Dungees like we do the east coast blue crab?
Boil them in Old Bay seasoning and salt. They quite a bit bigger than the blues over there. The width of the shells are 6.5 to 8 inches across. It would take a long time to steam.

Had some neighbors in NC when i lived there that boiled their blue crabs, then one day they tasted my steam version. From then on steamed it was.
Maybe next time you have a batch empty all but an inch or two of water. Add a cup of vinegar and put a crab or two that you didn't boil on a rack above the water and steam them for 30 minutes smothered in Old Bay while you are eating the boiled batch.
I can't say i have ever had a whole Dungee crab, so not sure if it would work or not.
