Nice Job Randy, definitely the way to spend your lunchbreak. Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks Fred and you’re welcome. I’m trying not to make Steve look to bad down there in California but I love it when I can squeeze a fish or two in sideways once in a while. 😂

You’re killing me Cat. My lunch break consists of rehydration. Nice going. 👍

I know right but I’ll tell ya it’s pretty hard when we have “caution, watch for fishermen on the road” signs on my way to work every morning and I can smell king salmon in the river when I get out of my rig at work. Hard to focus when there’s a killer, record, salmon run going on right across the street and the boss lady comes over to the shop all the time and says “ya know there’s 15 fish hanging it the cooler. You might wanna wash your hands and knock out a few before the cooler gets too full over there. 🙄😂

Thanks Sport. We had a record run this year so it’s been a rush here for the last month or so. They’ve hit close to the harvest they wanted already so the Big Salmon is closing Sunday night and the Little salmon will close the end of this month.
We smoke a lot of fish at the meat shop too kinda the same way. Drop off 4 fish, we smoke em all and keep two. No charge for the filleting and smoking. We also just fillet fish for the anglers at $12.00/fish and that includes cleaning, filleting, vacuum packing and freezing for up to three days. A lot of the guys fishing here right now are not from here so it’s pretty convenient for the, to just run by and drop off there fish and head back to their camp. Then they swing by and buy a cooler, that we conveniently have in stock, fill it with ice we have and head home with a bunch of vac packed fresh fish. I fillet, probably 300 to 500 fish a season down there. Steelhead and salmon both and I can do mine for free. Or at least I’ve never paid them anything so far😆
Thanks Sport. We had a record run this year so it’... (show quote)

Thanks Cat. You've a neat operation. Our's was farmer casual, no money. Smoker man kept his, we got plenty. All local. We're not a destination fishery, anything else. Folks travel from here to everywhere, dismiss our resources. Recon if your planning travel , you're already gone. We do it also. Running our coast up and down, though we have rivers and lakes close by. Heck man, I love this place.

The season is about over sounds like so I took another lunch break. 11 pounder👍. Kinda nice working right across the street from the fishin hole. Little Salmon River in Riggins Idaho. People are catching them like crazy right now. I filleted 14 yesterday not counting mine and 21 two days ago. Good looking fish for traveling 700 miles to get here.

Wow CH, you definitely live in paradise.

Just fish for other stuff till hunting season starts. We have a fall season too and there’s steelhead here year round. I’m not big on salmon and steelhead so I don’t fish much for them. Probably 4 or 5 salmon a year and about that many steelhead. My Mom likes em so I catch a few for her.

Not many people have the opportunity I have here. I feel very fortunate to live where I live.

Probably 10 years ago we stopped for dinner in Riggins at a local restaurant and I ordered the salmon from the menu. It was absolutely beyond belief the toughest salmon I ever ate my life! All I could think of was all those miles that fish had to travel and the muscle it built up! 🐟On!
