I took my grandson fishing Monday and Tuesday. On Monday I taught him how to drift a fly under a float in stream riffles. It seemed like just yesterday that he could not handle even a closed faced reel. Now at 11, he is dropping pinpoint casts at the head of stream riffles with his spinning reel. Photo says it all.

Great, thanks for sharing. Put a fly rod in his hands next year.

That is a given. I plan to do better than that. I plan to put together a fly tying kit this Christmas for him. I used to teach fly tying in Alaska back in the 70s. I had to put shelves in my man cage closet to handle all the fly tying gear and materials I have collected since I started tying back in the early 60s.

If you look at my other post on sole, you will see it is more important to put a filet knife in his hands.
