2 newbies to fly fishing looking for 1/2 day or day long guided experience on the river either in panhandle or in the clearwater area. thanks
That's a good solid idea to hire a guide if you're just starting out . I would also suggest that if you have an Orvis store near you, that you show up there and talk to them about taking some lessons. They are very professional outfit. They truly are looking for your business and want you to be successful so you'll be back.
I'm in no way affiliated with Orvi. I just know that they build great reliable products and they provide great services and training.
You should know (not trying to discourage you) that the world is full of folks who thought it would be a great idea to take up fly fishing, got discouraged and then ended up with a lot of fish equipment that they had no use for. Often very expensive equipment. You're probably gonna find that it's not cheap and it's not easy. Go about it the correct way, get someone who knows what they're doing to show you at least the basics. Go from there.
BTW, although I've never fished there, I've heard that Idaho is a great place to do it. Go for it!

Contact Dan at his shop, Idaho Fly Fishing Co., in Avery, Idaho. He is right on the St. Joe River at the put in for float trips. I'm pretty sure he can put you in touch with a river guide. Google his shop for a phone number.
