A great week of fishing with grandson.
My 10-year-old grandson Lucus came, and we did a whole week of fishing. What a great time we had. We caught a good number of smallmouth and also a couple of days we put some walleyes in the boat. The first day we caught a lot of smallmouths in which Lucus caught his pb. Tried for walleye but not even a bite. The next few days we caught a few smallmouth and still no walleye. I was having a hard time keeping him interested in the walleye. Finally on Thursday we got into them. Matter of fact Lucus caught the first one and it was also his first walleye ever. Then he proceeded to out fish me. Lucus landed 6 walleyes to my 3 and two of my three were the smallest. Could probably have gotten our limit of 6 each but grandpa forgot one of the containers of worms for tipping the jigs and we ran out of worms. On Friday no walleye but did good on the smallmouth.
We decided on Saturday to start at daylight because of a walleye tournament on the lake. We had some real good luck and located a school of fish off a point in the first 5 minutes we started fishing. We pounded that point for two hours and caught our limit of walleye. We were happy campers.
It was a great week. Lots of fun watching Lucus learning how to tie his own jigs on with the proper knot, baiting his own jig, unhooking his own fish and many other aspects of fishing. I also noticed to his credit he is a very fast learner.
Lucas said he had a lot of fun but I think I had the most fun. This will be a great memory for me.

Nice going Mike and Lucus. I like that pose in the second picture. Can tell he's trying to be just like granddad
Permanent memory for both of you.
