Out on Folsom Lake. Gave kayak trolling a try for the first time, but only came up with this little guy. I’m afraid the Kokanee may be beyond my reach. No depth/fish finder and no down riggers. Tried a 3 oz cannonball weight to get down deep enough, but it’s difficult to put out enough line to troll at an appropriate depth without hitting the bottom. Ah, well. I’ll keep trying. In the meantime, it was pretty cool seeing my rod start to dance when I hooked up with the bass.

Nice catch Moonray. They make small planers like Dipsey Divers, and others, that will get your lure down to your selected depth, without excess weight. When a fish bites, they trip a release and you fight the fish without any resistance. Google them, there are several brands and styles.

Nice bass, never fished Folsom much but I always did pretty good at Pardee for Kokanee. You would do a lot less work if you had a fish finder. That way you could paddle until you found a school, then jig for kok's. Kok's a Pardee should be in the 20 to 30 foot range so if you put out a small half/half dodger with a Kokanee lure tipped with white shoe peg corn. Trolling speed should be around 1-1.4 mph. If you want to give Pardee at try, let me know and I can give you more precise info.
Good luck.
