Caught these 3 rainbows today (6/9/22) All were caught on rainbow colored PB. That is the only color they would take. Tried many! Location was below the Mcswain dam in the river.
Were you in a boat or banking it? I've never caught anything there, but I've only been there about three times and I fished from the docking area and what they call the "brush pile". I've been a witness to fish catching, but not even a nibble for me. Still, a nice place and I'll be back

I was bank fishing. I have fished this area for 50 yrs. You have to be careful because the Regs have changed as you get further downstream. These are plants but they will fight like hell! Was a beautiful day, minimal wind, but was time to go home by 10.00 as the Valley heat has begun!
I'm gonna try to make it down there sometime this summer or fall. I'm recovering from a head injury right now, but expect to be back reasonably good shape fairly quickly. I'll let you know. Would love to meet up with someone familiar with the area.

Yes,I stopped at the bridge on my way home from Mcswain and fished on the far side. They probably planted this area heavily since the whole area was almost dry for most of the past winter. This time of year you need to start at O dark thirty and get off the water or bank by 10:00 am or you"'ll get pan fried! By the way there is no fee to fish this area until you go through the gate at Mcswain/Mclure. Then it's 7bucks for vets and seniors. Good Luck!

I fish the Brush Pile a lot never had luck below McSwain, looks like it should be good not only for trout but bluegill and bass. You are right about this time of year way too hot after 10:00. I like to go early and get my spot.
