Line memory

I am heading to Canada for five days of fishing soon. Need to reline my reels. I have a spool of line that I bought just before Covid hit, and I am concerned it may have “memory” of its spool. I think this has been discussed here before, but can’t remember.

Hoe does one remove “memory” from monofilament line.

Put the line (Mono?) In a bowl of warm water when your winding it on make sure the line is coming off the spool the same way as its going on the reel ( Spinning gear) 2 when in the boat with no lure on the line let the line out in the water when your motoring then reel it back in .If the line is braid no worries it doesn't keep a memory Good Luck Wolf Bay. 🇺🇸🎣😎👍

If it’s mono and it looks like a slinky tie it off to something walk off a few yards and give it a stretch if it’s memory this will often fix it. If it’s twisted it’s best to let some out behind the boat with nothing on it so it will untwist.

Buy Braid or drag the Momo behind the boat for a 1/4 mile or longer, each will solve the problem . Mono is tits up when it shows signs of being Chalky or having a powder coating kinda !
