Wow what a 3 hours of fishing at the walk to pond. Nothing huge all like the guy below in the 1-2 lb range. All caught on wacky rig.

Nice Job Papa. That's a great pond to be in walking distance of! Thanks for sharing.

That's some fun catching. I used to fish at a friend's pond. Catch them like crazy for half hour, then shuts off like
we had caught them all. All C&R.

There are several types of specific hooks designed for that technique. Regular, weedless, and weighted for fishing deep

There's also a tool that makes putting the O rings on, easy. Available in plastic like this one, or metal.

Thanks guys. I'm taking all this in. I've learned thru the stage to not stick with one thing if it's not working. Switching it up can work. If it doesn't work try something else or a different spot. And some times nothing works.

Sometimes Ed, just changing the color works wonders. Especially with soft plastics like worms, and Crappie jigs.

Ed, Fred is correct about the colors. I tried four different colors yesterday unroll I found one that seemed like they could not resist

Has anyone on here ever heard the story about how the wacky rig came to be?

I read where a novice guy on vacation went to the local tackle shop and ask what the locals were catching and how. The owner told him the guys were catching bass on purple plastic worms so he bought some and went fishing. Some time later he returns to the shop with a full stringer of huge bass! The owner is amazed and askes how he was fishing and he said with the purple worms. The owner says the locals were catching fish but not that size. He asked the guy how he fished the worms. Well it turns out that in his ignorance of using plastic worms for the first time he simple hooked the plastic worm in the middle like you might hook a real worm and the bass saw something that no one else had showed the fish before. Every one else was rigging them Texas style.
